Media Guidelines:

We send many media opportunties to professionalls that are members and at times those non-members that have registered for our information.

Getting a quote in the media, on a blog etc can bring you additional business. It will open you up to inquires on your services. Seek out opportunities to be the expert in your area.  

Please read and follow these guidelines.

1) Reporter queries from reporters and outlets from all over the world. Scan the emails, and if you’re knowledgeable about the topic, answer the reporter directly.

2)
Don’t SPAM reporters with off-topic pitches in response to their queries.

3)
You MAY forward queries to friends, but DO NOT post them on blogs or anywhere on the web please leave our contact information on them..

4)
When replying to a query, please follow the reporter’s request. If they ask for something specific in the email subject line, put it in there. If they ask you to cut and paste information into an email (instead of sending an attachment), don’t send attachments.

5)
If you send a reply and don’t hear anything in six hours, don’t send an email asking, “Just wondering if you’re interested in interviewing me/my expert for your story. I haven’t heard from you yet.” Be patient. This an amazing service that gets reporters hundreds of email responses. It can be challenging to go through them–and respond to people–in a timely basis.

6) If you think you have a better angle for the reporter’s story, don’t reply and tell them that. Most likely this reporter has been assigned this story–or told to research a specific angle–and your telling him/her that the angle is all wrong and you know a better angle for the reporter to take will not endear you to this reporter. It will make that reporter want to avoid talking to your know-it-all self even more.

7) Read the query clearly and beyond the first line of the blurb. Most often if you take the time to read all the way through, you will find out what magazine (or a description of the kind of publication) this reporter is writing for, the specific angle and the details he/she is looking to cover in the story. Do not just hit “reply” after reading the one-line blurb at the top of the mail.

8) Don’t reply to a journalist and recommend they Google “such and such.” They know how to do their own research, They are looking for experts, not a research assistant.


Fam Trips for Pros
For those that do not know a "Fam" (Familization) is is designed to get you familiar with a property or area so you can recommend or refer others to the location. Travel agents take them frequently. Here are photos and a short video of one we just completed. It is to the Philippines Nov 20-27, 2009. New Fams being developed.
1) Mexico 5 star property in the Riviera Maya asked for up to 20 photograhers September 30 - Oct 2, 2010
2) Mexico, Same property will be bringing up to 400 destination wedding planners for this high end resort. September 30 - Oct 2, 2010
3) Virgin Islands Developing the program, approx date June-August 2009 looking for destination wedding planners.
4) Philippines - Second group being scheduled late 2010 Mostly destination planners.
There are others being discussed and will be listed when ready. To qualify we require: A) Current membership in Afwpi B) Valid passport C) Short description on how you will market the location.

Here is some information for you.  In big markets we usually pay $50 per show.  They also get .50 cents per bridal lead and another .25 cents to input.  We pay .32 cents a mile for travel expenses.  We need assistance exhibiting in Bridal Shows: Floral Company - Position: FiftyFlowers Bridal Show Representative  (Paid Position)

Traits: professional, personable, eager, self motivated, open to feedback.

Requirements: Will serve as a representative of FiftyFlowers during bridal show appearances. Talk with brides to describe our products and services. Must receive flowers prior to show date and properly care for them. Must set up booth and tear down booth in proper manner. Post show discussion to inform FiftyFlowers' staff of the show's success (all training, pre show coordination, and post show follow ups will be done primarily over the phone with Megan).

Compensation: paid by the hour. This includes flower prep time, set up, show hours, and take down.  Main organizer will receive $30 per hour.  Additional helps will receive $20 per hour.  Any out of pocket expenses will also be reimbursed (such as approved materials, gas, parking, etc). Payment is processed upon receiving required paperwork and receipts.
