Chapel Information
by Greg Snoddy

Perfect weddings require detailed preparation. When shopping for that perfect wedding chapel there are several things that you will want to look for and information that you will want to ascertain. This will enable you to make the right decisions when planning that very special day.

Be sure to schedule to take a tour both inside and outside with a chapel representative. Take a friend along with pen and paper to take notes for you. Gather the following information. How old is the chapel? Is it in good condition? Is the chapel well decorated and in the decor that you prefer? Remember, this is your day, so, do not settle for less than you deserve. Are the grounds and landscaping well maintained? This is a direct reflection on you and poor conditions do not make for nice photographs. Is the chapel in a good location? Busy roadways are a definite distraction and nuisance. Be sure that the location is easy to find, especially for those out-of-town guests. Is there lodging facilities nearby? Is the chapel large enough to accommodate your wedding party and guests? Are there handicap facilities available for those handicapped and elderly guests?

Get to know the chapel coordinator and decide if your personalities compliment each others. How many years experience do they have? You will be communicating with this person a great deal on floral design, ceremony procedures, photography and such so it is important that your personalities gel. Ask how many weddings are scheduled per day. Too many weddings can result in hurried ceremonies and unhappy brides. Be sure there are waiting room facilities in the event that they are running behind schedule. Find out if there are dressing rooms for the wedding party and particularly the bride. Brides hate to wait outside, particularly in inclement weather.

Check out the chapel's photography and video capabilities. Are they state of the art? Digital? These are important because poor quality photos and videos do not lend to lasting memories.

Now let's get down to business. Is the chapel a member of the local Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau or a national association? Ask for and check all references provided.

Find out what allied businesses the chapel works with such as formal wear, caterers, cake decorators, limousine companies, disc jockeys etc? Often times these companies offer discounts if you are working with specific chapels.

Shop the chapel's packages yet do not be afraid to have them custom design a package for your wedding. Finally, be very clear on the deposit and cancellation policies of each chapel that you visit.

Once you have gathered all of the information that you need, discuss this with your fiancee and members of the decision team. Make your decision and begin having fun planning the remaining details that will lead to the most memorable day of your life!

This is your special day, Preparation is Perfection!
